If you purchase a Lowrance HDS fishfinder intended for the U.S. market for use in other regions, you will encounter Geofence protection.

What is Geofence Protection?

This is a satellite-based geo-protection system that activates if you turn on a Lowrance HDS device outside the United States or Canada. When this happens, a flashing message will appear at the bottom of the screen:

“Unit not valid for use on this area. Contact local authorized reseller for support.”

How to Change the Language on Lowrance HDS?

If you have a Lowrance HDS device from the U.S., only English is available by default. However, after unlocking Lowrance Geofence, you will have access to the standard language pack, which includes: Standard: Afrikaans, Danish, German, English (US), English (UK), Spanish, Finnish, French, Greek, Icelandic, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish. Also we are offering Language pack unlock for Asian, European, etc. languages, that you can order from us. This will open the borders of your device if you are bad in English. How to Switch to the Metric System?

Lowrance HDS devices from the U.S. that are protected by Geofence only support the imperial measurement system. To convert feet to meters, you need to enter the geofence unlock code. Additionally, Celsius degrees and some other features are not available on locked devices. We can provide you with a Lowrance Geofence unlock code, allowing you to use meters and Celsius degrees.

How Does the Geofence Unlock Process Work?

The process is very simple:
1. You send a “Request Code”.
2. Shortly after, you receive an unlock code via email.
3. Enter the code, and your Lowrance HDS will be fully unlocked and ready for use anywhere in the world.

Where can I get the request code?

Settings -> system -> advance -> user interface -> Show geoFence unlock dialog (ON).
